Well you just never know. In the difficult communities like "Scottsdale" with so much going on and with so many community ties weaken or broken engagement is not easy. We thought what if nobody signs up? Well, we answered, we would do it again, and then again. What if one or two will sign up? Well, then there would be one or two more kids engaged with art after the ravaging crisis and that's a great start. That's what we thought. We had 17 kids responding enthusiastically to our call. Parents were truly happy commenting how much their kids needed something like that right now and how helpful it is. This is pretty extraordinary for this community.
After receiving such a response we went with an amazing local activist and Artward Initiative Board Member Sadie Dix along with our great collaborators Jonathan Delgado and Adam Valenzuela from the "Scottsdale" security team to deliver free art supplies from us to the kids who signed up.
It was so awesome to see the excitement on kids faces as they saw the great paper, the brushes and paints in the package. We also included instruction and some useful art tips.
